Semiconductor Electron Microscope (SEM) Sample Prep Technologist

Our client in Ottawa West is currently looking for a SEM Sample Prep Technologist to join their team. This is a full-time opportunity offering Day Time hours Monday to Friday. Hourly rate of pay to be determined based on level of experience.
Our client has one of the most advanced in-house technical labs in the world with state-of-the-art equipment that enables investigation from "atom-to-system". The experienced staff and sophisticated capabilities combine to reveal the innovation that others can't inside electronics, semiconductor, systems and software.
In this hands-on role, the Lab Technologist will work with the teardown team at the front end of the technical intelligence analysis. You will be responsible for preparing and imaging electronic components for subsequent analysis. This role involves using mechanical and chemical processes to reveal targeted features and capture high resolution images using both optical and scanning electron microscopes. To be successful in this position, you will bring a natural interest in technical devices along with general electronic skills and knowledge of lab procedures.

Technologist Responsibilities:
- Prepare lab samples for high quality imaging and data extraction as specified by analysts
- Produce high quality images and data using optical and scanning electron microscopy techniques
- Work with analysts to understand lab requests and review results making sure to meet or exceed expectations
- Contribute in the teardown and microscopy of electronic products; this involves dismantling consumer products and identifying components
- Catalogue inventory of sub-systems and electronic components

Technologist Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or degree or equivalent from a recognized institution in a relevant field, or demonstrated technical aptitude
- Working knowledge of electronic component types, including integrated circuits, integrated circuit packaging, printed circuit boards
- Experience working in a chemical lab environment
- Experience with lab sample preparation techniques
- Experience with both optical and scanning electron microscopy
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols, ideally WHMIS
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a quick pace environment, meeting sometimes aggressive due dates
- Ability to safely lift heavy products
