Sous Chef

Adecco is currently hiring for a full-time Sous Chef in the Quinte Area. To be considered for this Sous Chef role, you must have 3-5 years of kitchen leadership in a fine dining or casual dining environment. Our client is seeking candidates with a combination of skills and experience that include operational and kitchen management excellence in a high-volume business, as well as a proven desire to strive for continuous culinary innovation. Annual Salary: $45,000 + with bonus potential

Sous Chef Responsibilities:
- Understanding, adhering to, and executing all kitchen operations
- Overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals by directing cooks and kitchen staff and participating in the preparation of meals
- Selecting, training, evaluating, leading, coaching, and disciplining kitchen employees to ensure that core standards are maintained
- Ensuring a unique and consistent guest dining experience by monitoring dishes for quality and consistency
- Assisting in the planning and development of new recipes and dishes
- Maintaining a strong focus on achieving and/or exceeding revenue targets, within acceptable labor cost and service standard parameters
- Monitoring incoming shipments to ensure that incoming product meets established purchasing specifications
- Conducting inventory counts on a regular basis and documenting disposal of spoiled, damaged, or outdated product
- Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards within the kitchen and performing ongoing inspections of equipment, appliances, and utensils for cleanliness and safety
- Work alongside the General Manager, Front of House Manager, and Back of House Manager to discuss daily operations, forecasted customer projections, special events, daily specials, and other factors that may impact staffing requirements and product orders

Sous Chef Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of progressive kitchen leadership experience in a fine or casual dining environment
- Demonstrated awareness of and interest in current culinary trends in the marketplace
- Operations management experience in a high volume establishment with significant evening and catering/special events business
- Experienced trainer and mentor to large staff teams
- Demonstrated patience, tact and diplomacy while leading a diverse team of industry professionals
- Ability to multi-task, remain cool and keep up in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication experience, both verbal & written
- Excellent organizational skills, with timely delivery of all required administrative work
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends and holidays
- Red Seal Certification or equivalent considered a strong asset
