Translator (contract)

In cooperation with a second translator, the incumbent must fill the company’s various English-to-French translations needs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Translate, from English to French, a variety of written material such as correspondence, reports, marketing documents, on-line courses and other documents for internal and external clients.
  • Ensure the quality of the translations produced.
  • Make contributions to a glossary of commonly-used terms within the company and the industry in order to foster consistency of internal and external translations.
  • Provide linguistic consultation services to employees, as and when requested.

 Skills and Experience Required:

  • A university degree in English to French translation is required.
  • Membership in the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec(“OTTIAQ”) would be an asset.
  • Three to five years of experience as full-time translator.
  • Training in and/or knowledge of PC applications (word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail) is required.
  • Knowledge of a CMS system such as Sharepoint would be an asset.
  • Proven ability to determine priorities and manage his/her day-to-day activities and workload.
  • Ability to work with tight and often conflicting deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently. Possibility of telecommuting.
  • Must display good accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in the securities industry and/or financial institutions would be an asset.
