Database Administrator, Reconciliation

Our North American Reconciliation department reconciles all bank accounts held in Canada and the US on behalf of all of our North American Corporate clients. The data handled pertains to dividend and interest disbursements, employee plans, dividend reinvestment and corporate action related activity.

The incumbent performs a variety of data management and database management functions to support the North American Reconciliation department. These duties include the quality control of data being automatically loaded into the Accurate system as well as manually loading applicable data to the Accurate or Cosmos Trust (internal system) systems. The incumbent supports several Access databases that have been designed for internal use within the department in order to facilitate and / or semi automate processes. The incumbent will also build and design Access database solutions as business needs are required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Accurate File and Data Management: on a daily basis perform various validation / corrective functions in order to ensure that all applicable files have been successfully loaded to Accurate.
  • Upload various files to Cosmos Trust (internal system) and /or Accurate to ensure complete data for reconciliation.
  • Run Scrip adjustment in the Access Database to identify checks rejected.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance reporting functions.
  • Participate in various database projects as assigned or required by current business challenges.
  • Maintain and improve database-related processes, mainly MS Access and their integrated VBA.
  • Troubleshoot windows scheduled tasks.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proficient in French and English
  • Have superior XL and Access experience and skills
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliation system
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience with College level completed (preferably a mix of accounting knowledge with strong IT skills in database management, programming with XL and Access, SQL and VBA)
  • Bank Reconciliation and /or Accounting experience within Financial Industry
  • Basic knowledge of Windows batch scripting
