MS Access Database Specialist

Our North American Reconciliation department reconciles all bank accounts held in Canada and the US on behalf of all of our North American Corporate clients. The data handled pertains to dividend and interest disbursements, employee plans, dividend reinvestment and corporate action related activity.

The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of existing databases which were programmed using MS Access and VBA, as well as the design and implementation of new improvements to the databases and / or the creation of New Access databases. This person will also be responsible for analyzing data flows, resolving data reporting issues and making necessary improvements.

We are looking for someone that has a background in reconciliation reporting, who can work with business users to understand needs and expectations, and offer automated solutions using Access and VBA.

Major Responsibilities:

• Learn and maintain existing Access databases.
• Design, create, and implement additional automated reports as requested by management.
• Create, modify and maintain various data exports and imports including excel, csv and (or) xml formats.
• Provide process improvements by automating manual processes.
• Troubleshoot and correct any Database server issues including occasional after-hours and weekends.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Experience in SQL, VB.
• Extensive development experience in MS Access/VBA.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to create complex equations.
• Proficient in English, French an asset.
• Bank Reconciliation and /or Accounting experience within Financial Industry.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with business users.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience with College level completed (preferably a mix of accounting knowledge with strong IT skills in database management, programming with XL and Access, SQL and VBA).
